If you have left over candy canes, this recipe is a perfect way to use them up.
1/2 Cup butter, softened
1/2 Cup shortening
1 Cup confectioners sugar
1 egg
1 1/2 tsp. almond extract
1 tsp. vanilla
2 1/2 Cup flour
1 tsp. salt
1/2 Cup crushed candy canes
- Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Mix thoroughly butter, shortening, confectioners sugar, egg and flavorings. Blend in flour, salt and crushed candy canes. Form into balls (around 2 tsp. of dough per cookie) and place on greased baking sheets.
- Bake about 9 minutes or until set and very lightly brown. Remove from baking sheet while still hot or they will stick to the pan. Makes about 4 dozen cookies.
